Bioresearches was an integral part of the Further North Alliance to undertake assessments of the effects of the construction and operation of proposed roads of national significance (RoNS) on terrestrial and freshwater ecology.
Bioresearches' specialist ecologists worked with a multidisciplinary team of planners, engineers, lawyers and heritage consultants.
The assessments included a review of the statutory context, followed by formal identification and evaluation of all representative flora and fauna (including fresh water ecosystems, vegetation, wetlands, land snails, frogs, reptiles, birds and bats) within the designation.
Bioresearches also completed water quality sampling and flow monitoring at representative sites to supplement other data collected by the Alliance.
Evidence was presented at a Board of Inquiry and, following approval, Bioresearches was involved in the bid evaluation phase.
Bioresearches is currently a member of the Technical Advisory Group for the project during its construction phase, representing NZTA via the Alliance.
